Background / ContentFirst introduced and made popular in the early part of the 19th century, another version of the Jota believed to have originated from Andalucia, Spain, this dance was dedicated to the province of Quirino. Using elongated bamboo castanets in lieu of the traditional Spanish ones, the dance steps a combination of which were the Andalucian Jota and Ilocano, it was a popular form of entertainment during that era.
