Background / Content

A Filipinized French quadrille adopted by the indigenous Agta group of Iriga, Camarines Sur, it is claimed that it was passed on from the generation who worked as farmhands in the vast landholdings of the colonizing Spaniards. In Tertullas and other social gatherings, maids and servants peered through the kitchen doors to watch the goings on and picked up the dance movements as they imitated their masters. Pretty soon, the Agtas created their own peculiar version of the dance.
