Background / ContentJanggay refers to metal fingernail extensions worn by the Badjao of Southern Sulu. The effect of the extensions make the hands appear claw-like thus classifying Janggay as one of the bird dances. Performed on special occasions, female dancers execute an elaborate form, hyper articulated movements and are deeply conscious to ensure that methodical care be expressed in the finger and hand movements.
