Vamos A Belen: Sama-samang Paggunita at Pagdiriwang
PASTORES DANCE COMPETITION
1. The Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group of the Cultural Center of the Philippines will be conducting a Vamos A Belén: Sama-samang Paggunita at Pagdiriwang, a virtual mini-festival that showcases various Philippine Christmas activities in the forms of competition, exhibition, and performances for the whole month of December.
2. Pastores Dance Competition is a national virtual dance competition on December 21, 2021.
3. This competition aims to:
a. To advance the Pastores research works of RAO in the mainstream dance programs by providing additional learning resources through the use of various learning delivery modalities;
b. To perpetuate the lost Pastores traditions in the Philippines based on RAO’s researches by organizing a national competition that showcases aptitude and creativity resulting in artistic excellence; and
c. To develop an appreciation of the traditional Pastores dances and music in the Philippines.
4. Online registration opens from October 1, 2021 until November 30, 2021 in this link https://forms.gle/w4MZ3iGWKRo5gL4U6. A confirmation email from the organizers will be sent to the group after a successful registration.
5. Competition Briefing and Orientation is on November 3, 2021, and Contest Piece Workshop on November 7, 2021. Attendance of group representatives and choreographers is highly advised.
6. Submission of entries is until December 10, 2021, 11:59 PM (PST). Email us the video entry at rofg.1972@gmail.com. Any late submission will not be entertained.
7. All submitted entries will be screened by the Committee from Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group on December 12, 2021, live via Zoom. Only 10 entries will be selected as Finalists. Group representatives and choreographers are encouraged to observe the screening process.
8. The ten (10) finalists, in no particular order will be announced on Ramon Obusan Folkloric Foundation Inc. Facebook page. Peoples’ Choice Award will be awarded to the group with the highest number of consolidated likes on ROFF’s YouTube channel from December 16, 2021 until December 20, 2021, at
6:00 PM (PST).
9. Culminating Program and Announcement of Winners is on December 21, 2021, at 7:00 PM (PST) via:
– Zoom Meeting exclusively for the finalists, and
– Ramon Obusan Folkloric Foundation Inc. Facebook Page opens to the general public

GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS
1. The competition is open to all school-based, community-based, and professional folk dance troupes in the Philippines and abroad.
2. There is only one (1) category – Pastores. This year, the Pastores Bool of Bohol based on National Artist for Dance Ramon A. Obusan research will be the sole contest piece.
3. Participating groups must submit a video dance interpretation of Pastores Bool. The organizers will provide a copy of written dance literature and recorded music.
4. Each group must be composed of a minimum of 8 performers and a maximum of 12 performers of legal age.Participants must be 15 years old and above . 5. Competing groups with a direct and present relationship with Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group and the organizing committee are strictly prohibited from joining the said competition.
6. Organizers have the liberty to decline entries with proper advice and reason to the groups involved.
7. No registration fees are required. Also, all expenses made in joining must be shouldered by the participating group.
8. Due to the health restrictions made by the pandemic, the organizers will provide a waiver form upon registration. Competitors and group leaders must abide by the guidelines and protocols set by the Covid-19 Inter-Agency Task Force mandated by the national government and shall exert and guarantee their own safety. The Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group and Ramon Obusan Folkloric Foundation assume no liability to any party for all forms of accident and or emergency including but not limited to COVID 19 pandemic, force majeure, fortuitous event, invasion, or rebellion during the course of the competition and event.
9. All participating groups must accomplish the registration form and submit other documents like a list of participants and a valid ID with birth date. Any forgery on legal documents may result in disqualification.
10. Entry should have one continuous and uninterrupted video shot using a static one-camera set-up. Entry must be in landscape orientation, with 1920X1080p resolution, and in mp4 format. Video editing, special effects, use of green screen, and video projection are not allowed.
11. Combination of dances, story-telling in the beginning and/or end of the dance, voice-over, and incorporation of other characters are not allowed.
12. Singing and delivery of verso can be live and/or pre-recorded only by the listed participants. Added singers and choirs are not allowed.
13. Dangerous props and use of elaborate sets like risers are strictly prohibited
14. Failure to comply with the above-mentioned guidelines may result in disqualification.
15. The judges’ decisions are final and irrevocable.
Criteria of Judging:
Performance (25%)
Demonstrates the nature and background of the dance, displays Filipino values and character,
communicates the message of faith and religiosity
Interpretation of Dance Literature (25%)
Execution of correct movement patterns, faithful to the sequencing and arrangement
Musicality (20%)
Ability to connect tempo and rhythm dictated by the music, harmony and coordination
Staging /Mounting the Dance Literature (15%)
Utilization of space, level, and range, establishing relationships and focus
Costume and Props (15%)
Appropriate attire, approximate property, colors and creativity
Total 100%
Prizes:
1st Place – Php20,000.00
2nd Place – Php15,000.00
3rd Place – Php10,000.00
Peoples’ Choice Award – Php5,000.00
All winners will also receive a Certificate of Recognition.
All remaining finalists will receive a consolation prize of Php5,000.00 and a Certificate of
Recognition.
